Diabetes which is a long term chronic disease is on the rise but can be prevented or maintained through living a healthy lifestyle. Some cases are also reversible. The major sign and greatest risk is being overweight. Diabetes is prone to people who have fat carried on their lower abdomen. It mostly affects people who have a waist of more than 35 for women and 40 inches for men. A lot of regular exercises work hand in hand with eating a healthy nutritious diet in preventing diabetes. Apart from being checked the blood sugar levels, in today’s world fats are a major cause of diabetes and thus when you visit a profession for a checkup insist on the fat level to be checked. Body Mass Index does not give the best results when it comes to diagnosing diabetes and the risk of getting it. Fat levels and where they are deposited is what works best.

 
A diabetes diet involves eating a healthy eating plan that is high in nutrients, mainly the three major constituents of a balanced diet that is proteins, vitamins and carbohydrates. The food should be low in fat and moderate in calories. Proteins are also believed when eaten in abundance they help to cut down insulin levels. The only thing that needs to be done is paying more attention on the carbohydrates meal and thus one is advised to eat whole carbohydrates. The whole grain carbohydrates are recommended due to their high fibre levels. They are also digested slowly and thus play a big role in keeping the blood sugars to a minimum.
The best carbohydrates are the ones so rich in fibre complex and are also called slow release carbohydrates. Apart from playing a major role in balancing the blood sugars, they also provide the needed lasting energy to the body. This fact helps a person to stay longer as the body has the needed requirements by the body.
As much as sugar is believed to be a major cause of diabetes, it should not be avoided at all cost if it is part of a healthy meal plan and also regular engagement in exercises. It is also very important to avoid snack foods may it be soda e. t. c. at all cost as they contain a very big percentage of sugars which with time will be converted to insulin. You can eat a normal meal
